Mother Confessor Day 2012 (May 13)

Hey folks.

As many of you know, I have been Tweeting about Mother Confessor Day on May 13. I had intended to put off starting any discussions about the day until after April 26 but I just realized I may be on the road come May 13 so everything I do will have to be set up in advance.

Hence, I figure we're close enough to the date that I should get the discussion going. I have some ideas but this is clearly something a lot of you should have good ideas about.

For example, we used #motherconfessorday in 2010 and I think I read somewhere on these forums that you cannot use that hashtag again.

How about "#happymotherconfessor day" instead?

Also, as we want to honor Bridget Regan with these Tweets, we don't want to completely overwhelm her, either, do we? But this year she'll have two reasons to celebrate Mother Confessorhood so I hope a lot of fans will join in and send her at least one Tweet.

So the question is, do we want to try for a trending event with a 3-hour window or is it good enough that we ask everyone to send Bridget a single Tweet?

Please share your thoughts.

Also, I'd like to see suggestions for some good fan videos that can be promoted. I feel like we fans can and should do more to help promote all the creative videos on YouTube (or wherever).

If I recall correctly, we did try the #HappyMotherConfessorDay hashtag, but ended up switching to #MotherConfessorDay mid-trend to get it into the top.

We could try:

I'd suggest the trending window for the hashtag instead of spamming Bridget (she will undoubtedly get some tweets tagged to her in any case, but we usually don't encourage Seekers to spam a LotS star Upon occasion, a couple of Seekers will ask them to retweet to help trend )

With the fun of the #SaveTheSeeker tweetathon on April 26th, LotS fans have been asking when the neXt tweetathon is.
(It was great that we got that one to trend at #3 in the USA )


Once a hashtag is decided on, we can get an event page setup on FB, and let Laura of SOS know to spread the word on twitter too.

Let's go with #MotherConfessor Day (that is, hashtag + day, separated by a space).

Example: "Wishing everyone a happy #MotherConfessor Day today."

Laura asked about what timeframe would be good. Let's aim for 12 PM to 3PM Pacific Time. That seems to be a good time slot.

There are a lot of organizations devoted to supporting mothers and families. I tried to find some international groups but I really don't know what to look for. Also, the few sites I found were either scammy-looking (possibly made for passive income from advertising) or did not appear to be updated for a couple of years.

By showing our support for some motherhood-related organizations, I thought we could engender some good will and maybe entice people to join our Tweetathon.

I like the idea of also targeting some charities, especially Mother related ones, as some you mentioned most people are unaware they exist. 12pm. -3pm Pacific time sounds good.

I think we should promote as many NGOs as possible -- not just the ones I mentioned here. If you know of a local shelter for mothers, for example, that has a Twitter account or Website and you want to show your support for them, then by all means please mention them in one or more Tweets.

The point is to make this a special Mother Confessor Day for as many people as possible.

I dont see it in the top trends but no idea how it went. Been in Twitter jail since about 3:15 my time I should have made a jail account if we do this again I will.

At one point I saw a Tweet where someone said they could see us trending but I don't know if it was worldwide or local. I suspect it was local to some country. The Twitter stats site Laura normally uses was not cooperating today.

Still, we published hundreds if not thousands of Tweets and I think plenty of people saw it. In fact, one of my friends was on Twitter at the time we started and he was totally caught off guard but added a few of his own Tweets. It was worth three Twitter Jail penalties just to see that.
