Default One thing that confuses me...

In Pillars of Creation, Jensen saves the Emperor from Wizard's Fire and she clenches her eyes and can see the light from the Wizard's Fire... then in this book none of the pristinely ungifted can even see magic at all.

The ending about Richard's gift made sense. All in all this was a great book.

My best guess whould be, that she can see the indirect light from the walls, floor and ceiling. Kinda like pristinely ungifted can be indirectly harmed by magic (for example: someone gives a normal rock a "magical" push and it falls on her head).

There's atleast one more time in PoC when Jennsen could see magic. When Richard arrives to the edge of the pillars and destroys the entire IO regiment stationed there with "lightningbolts". He used both side of his Gift, but still Jennsen should've only seen the Subtractive part of it but she saw the Additive part too.
I think TG hasn't come up with the whole theory of the pristinely ungifted ones when he was writing PoC, so there're a few contradictions, retcons in NE.

Well, I'm not sure if it was retconned. The wizard's fire itself for example, she doesn't see. She sees light, which is a perfectly normal (Not magic) thing, albeit inadvertently by wizard's fire. She can see the effects, and results of magic (Along with the fullnes of subtractive magic). However, she can't see additive magic itself.

As for the Lightning bolts thing, I would argue that magic was used to "draw" lightning, which is perfectly ordinary and non-magic part of the world. Much the same as something Nicci does in a later book, although I won't say more, so as to avoid spoiling anything.

Still she is not affected by it. She can see the fire/lightning bolts but its not harmed. Both of these are not directly magic unlike creatures or direct spells. I am wondering if she could walk into the temple of the winds? Considering that is half magic and half in the underworld.

i dont know nicci69, because it was said that they cant even see magic, thats why she knew it was zedd and not richard throwing the fire at them. and wizards fire would be a direct spell sent on you.

ya so i dont know about the fire or lightning, it is one of those were you can find lots of missing pieces with the pristinely ungifted. and ya i would be curious to know if she could see or go to the temple of the winds, of course thinking she would be betrayed for it to show up, cause as you said it has underworld aspects to it which terry said they could see.

I would imagine that wizard's fire is created and sustained by a wizard's life fire but when it leaves the wizard's hands, it becomes more like a napalm like fire in that it is just fire that sticks to everything it touches. When a wizard creates wizard's fire, he creates fire and he can control the direction and size, but when it strikes an object or person, it becomes just fire. That being said, if the wizard (Zedd) was still controlling the fire's direction (towards Jagang) then Jensen would not have seen it or been affected by it because it was still magically controlled. If it had hit a tree or something of that nature, then she would have seen the tree (from her point of view) spontaneous combustion. If you also remember, she sees the magical seal disintegrate off of Nicci's letter to Richard. Not as a light spell keyed to him but only as ash crumbling away.

i think i remeber it sayiing somewhere in the books that wizards fire is actually created by just taking the air around you and heating it up so much that you get fire, but since it is still made with magic i dont think it makes a difference its still magic. and i guess she sees the result but not the action.
