    Comic-Con 2011

There are only about 2 months left to Comic-Con International (aka San Diego Comic-Con), July 21-24, so time to start a new thread. If for any reason, you're looking for the Comic-Con 2010 thread is right here.

This is what we know today:

    • Fan Table: we're on the wait list, but cancellations happens, so we'll better be ready with our fan table if we get called at the last minute.
    • Volunteers: This is a 4-day event and it's huge! We'll need at least 10 volunteers on standby. Please email contact@saveourseeker.com if you'd like to help out. We need all the volunteers' emails so communications is smoother. Please also sign up here. If we get the table, we'll also get a two free passes.
    • Freebie Table: Last year, we distributed hundreds of iTunes cards. Funds permitting, we could do something similar this year. For example, we could do a bookmark promoting LotS on Netflix, Hulu, iTunes, and DVD. A draft is posted on Google docs. Comic-Con needs to approve the freebies, and I do have the contact email. Very important: we need a volunteer to be in charge of the freebie table. He/she will need to monitor the freebie table and bring the LotS freebies every day. Ideally, it should be someone local, so we can ship the freebies in advance and save money on shipping charges.
    • Tor Booth: Tor will have a booth at Comic-Con and will promote "The Omen Machine." They have been very supportive of the Seeker fan tables and have donated some giveaways, and will supply a poster of "The Omen Machine."
    • Plan B: If we don't get a fan table, Jericho fans, our neighbors at WonderCon, have offered the space on their own fan table for LotS flyers. Way cool!

We'd love your thoughts and suggestions. Thank you

When Seeker gets renewed, this will be me.

Awesome! Traffic at our WonderCon table tripled every time a fan in costume was around. We're keeping our fingers crossed about the table since we're still on the wait list. BTW, Tor will be at SDCC. I'm sure they'll be happy to meet Seeker fans

Just a quick update on the volunteer front.

We have 6 people that have offered to help at the fan table (still on the waitlist): Christine (Kahlan), Amber, Cha, Annika, Bob and Kim.

SDCC is huge, about 5x DragonCon, so in order to run a fan table, we'll need 4 more volunteers - mininum, so nobody burns out At WonderCon, we were swamped having two people at all times to give you an idea.

I can fly down for the weekend if needed. Plus, I'd like to (no need to twist my arm).

We're still looking for a volunteer to be in charge of the giveaways for the freebie table. I emailed the draft bookmark to SDCC last week and I'm waiting to hear back. They need to approve all the giveaways.

Thank you to all of you that have already offered to help. You guys rock!

I'll create soon a Google Group to make it easier to communicate.

    ... to be continued.

    Freebie Table Update

Our "Legend of the Seeker/The Omen Machine bookmark has been approved for the Freebie Table.

I need to let the organizers know asap if we'll be shipping the items, or someone can drop them off. Please email laura@saveourseeker.com if you want/can be in charge of the bookmarks. Thank you.

Note: A SDCC pass is required to drop off the giveaways.

This will be a box of 750 bookmarks coming from Vistaprint.

Rules: limit 2000 pieces or less. Any items not given out during Comic-Con will be recycled if possible and thrown away if not recyclable.

Items must be dropped off at the Sails Pavilion, located on the upper level of the Convention Center, anytime during Comic-Con hours after 9:00 AM on Thursday, July 21. A print out of the email I received must be provided to verify the approval of our items with the Freebie Table team.

Alternatively, we can ship our items, however there is a charge of $25 per box, which we'd like to avoid if possible. No box can exceed 40 lbs. All boxes must be received by Tuesday, 7/5/11. Any items received without payment will not be placed.

Sorry for the delay in a response. Been extremely busy the last month or so.

At the moment the web series project has been put on hold. Hopefully though at some point in the not so distant future it can get moving again.

We ordered 1000 bookmarks for the Comic-con freebie table.

    Bookmark pic: front and back.

Found a nice 50% promo code and got a great deal with Vistaprint. Total cost for 1000 bookmarks plus shipping is $104.95.

Thank you Christine for helping out with the delivery!

Info I got from the Jericho fans:

EXHIBIT HALL HOURS (Open to the public)

WED, JUL 20: (preview night; not very busy)
    5:30PM–9:00PM

    THU, JUL 21:
    9:00AM–7:00PM

    FRI, JUL 22:
    9:00AM–7:00PM

    SAT, JUL 23:
    9:00AM–7:00PM

    SUN, JUL 24:
    9:00AM–5:00PM

The fan table has the same hours as the exhibitors. The fan tables are on the mezzanine, so it will not be as crowded as the main floor.

Comic Con only gives out 2 tickets for the fan table and they usually let you pay for two more.

If we need more than four people for the table, then we should ask to get tickets. Sometimes in the next couple of weeks, Comic Con will be reselling the tickets turned in for a refund. You will need to watch this site for available tickets: http://www.comic-con.org/cci/cci_reg.php

There will be NO ticket sales at the con. All tickets must be purchased in advance.

If you have a Comic-Con badge and would like to help out, please sign up via the Volunteer Sign up Sheet.

Please also email contact@saveourseeker.com. We need your email at minimum to be able to coordinate the fan table.

    Thank you.

    We're still on standby.
