Just got done with listening to the bookie cast and I have to say it was awesome. I really loved Jenn's recap and it made me relive the book (the first 8 chapters anyway) again and reinforced my belief that it's simply the best series I have ever read. Terry Goodkind sucks you into the series so quickly and once you get to meet Richard and Kahlan and find out what kind of characters they are there is just no turning back.
I'm actually one of those who picked up the books after watching the show although it was still early in season 1. I would agree with you guys in that reading the books the characters you imagine are somewhat different from the show although I will say Bridget is pretty close to Kahlan (despite not having green eyes).
I'm actually quite impressed that you guys managed to keep the conversation within 8 chapters, I imagine that must have been hard. Looking forward to the next one now...

I also wanted to mention one thought that I had about Richard and where he saw the woman being stalked by four men. He didn't go guns blazing to rescue the woman but he tried to use his mind and think about what he can do in this situation. Richard always does the right thing but he uses his mind and not just his heart. If it comes down to it like when they were surrounded by the men he wouldn't walk away (knowing that in all likelihood one unarmed man and a woman don't stand a chance against four armed men) but he would take any option if it means he doesn't have to take a life. We will of course find out more on that when Richard learns what it means to be a seeker later in the book....

I am currently listening to this, and loving it! Great job!

I loved the comment on each chapter ending on a cliffhanger. It is so true, even all the way through the books. I don't want to spoil things too much, but there is a great one in Chainfire - I know as I have just passed it!

You did some good discussions on the characters. I particularly liked your summary on the "throw away" (a bit harsh, I feel!) character of Shar and her relationship to Richard and Kahlan. Kahlan is very unwomanly because of the sense of duty that has been drilled into her as a Confessor, so it is great to see her journey and conflicts as she tries to see something more of herself.

I am sure I will have another listen over the weekend, and can't wait for the next podcast!
