There are plenty of science fiction conventions around the world, large and small. Let's start organizing a convention circuit plan. Here is where people should share ideas on what can be done, what should be done, and how to make contact with the right folks.
ANY SF-related convention is worthy of inclusion in this campaign.
You want to help increase awareness of Terry Goodkind's books AND the TV show.
You want to build fan interest in supporting the show.
If you can get a small convention to show some Seeker videos, that's a major step.
If you can get a local convention to do a panel on Sword of Truth and Legend of the Seeker, that's a major step.
If you can set up a fan table, that's a major step.
If you can distribute flyers, that's a major step.
If you can put up a poster somewhere, that's a major step.
If you wear a Save Our Seeker t-shirt and get your picture taken, that's a major step.
If you can buy an advertisement in the programming book (or sometimes pocket schedules), that's a major step.
If you can participate in the masquerade with a Seeker/SOT costume, that's a major step.
If you can have a Seeker Breakfast, a Seeker dinner, a Seeker party, that's a major step.
The point is, don't stand back and convince yourself you can't do anything. If you can get to a local convention and make your presence known in any capacity, that's a HUGE STEP.
We can help promote your efforts here and elsewhere (I promise I'll do my best to help people).
NOTE: If you schedule an event or activity at a convention, MAKE SURE YOU GET IT LISTED in the convention's newsletter (if they have one). Some conventions publish quarterly updates to mailing lists on planning in advance of the convention. Some conventions publish daily newsletters during the cons. Ask what your announcement opportunities are.
Also, there may be bulletin boards where fans post announcements for room parties and more. You might able to use those, too.
UPDATE: 11-21-2010 It occurs to me that we're now getting enough activity at various conventions that people should try to include mention of other upcoming events on any flyers or brochures they hand out.
What I am suggesting is that if you can help promote Seeker fan activities at near-future events (conventions, costume parties, ren festivals, etc.) that will help get the message out that our fandom is organized and growing (which it is).
