    Sister's of the Dark

How many of them are there? It seems like no matter how many get killed off, new ones seem to pop up. I thought way back when the 4 sisters killed the 8 sisters, that's all that was left, they just seem to keep sprouting up. This seems to be one thing that urks me from week to week, the endless supply of Sister's of the Dark.

Don't forget they are coming down from the sky too as we saw in Walter. Moreover despite being powerful sorceresses all they prefer to use is the ninja star/dacra. The show did need a different enemy to fight every episode cause we all had enough of the d'haran soldiers. The sisters serve that purpose in season 2 and as there were about 200 of them in the books (including the sisters of light and dark) I will give the writers a bit of a leeway.

It must be something in the water..............LOL...........I don't know if I can answer that. It does seem like they sprout like weeds........even if you kill them there's another batch sprouting as you speak.

I think the writers had inspiration from the hydra in Hercules.

Could'nt they come back as banlings. Being that they are the servants of the keeper.

I would guess they would loose their magical powers if they become banelings as Cara did so probably not much use to the keeper. Of course they don't really use their powers too much to begin with.

I do understand the need for newer badder enemies. Just something they could have planned out a little better I guess. it's not going to break the show for me, but after every episode it's become a running joke with the next batch of Sister's. I wonder if they even bother crediting them by name anymore, just Sister #48, Sister #49

I hear you, they have become storm troopers rather than individual characters and couldn't be farther from the books now. I just understand why the show runners went that way since they want a lot of action in the show and fight sequences. Not saying I agree with that but I just understand the reasoning as I see it...

I've been feeling the same way. There's just too many of them and they seem kinda helpless. It only takes one swipe and they're down. If I was the Keeper I wouldn't want someone that inept that they go down after one tiny encounter with like two or four people max. They need to step it up a notch if they want to be that numerous.

Well the sisters of the dark in the show are not much more than foot soldiers with throwing weapons, they were a lot more dangerous in the books not because of their physical prowess but because of the powerful magic they commanded.

I've never understood why some people are complaining about how "many" of them there are. There's a few of them in most of the episodes since Dark, I wouldn't call that too much... It's not like there's 10-20 of them in every fight. When they were talking about how they killed 40 of their sisters to take their han, that was stretching it a bit but that still wouldn't make their numbers any higher then let's say about 100 at this time.

And even though I would like them to be more powerful too, I can understand that the budget is not endless, so they can't have them casting powerful spells that Zedd or Cara would have to deflect in every battle. I'm just enjoying it when they finally get to do some magic. Except in Eternity, every SoD involved in casting that spell has to DIAF.

What gets me about the Sisters of the Dark is that they come screaming from a mile away. They would be so much more effective if they could just sneak up on people.

I think it's more effective for the viewers, a raid looks cooler than some people sneaking up. It's not a good tactic but we know they will get their asses kicked either way.

I don't know... I've seen plenty of ninja movies where they snuck up on people and it was pretty cool... I think I wold have more respect for the SoD if they actually used tactics and not just throw their lives away... but I guess we're not supposed to..

I can forgive the whole sisters of the dark screaming attacks, parachuting down from the sky and using only their ninja stars to fight in close combat. It's all done for a reason in the show to give us some fight sequences each episode which are cool, the one I liked the most was at the end of perdition.
I just wish they would have done a little bit to build the threat of their powers in the show even if they didn't use it all the time. Nicci is the only one we have seen using powers other than the ninja star, even the 4 powerful sisters of the dark who were after her used only the ninja star for the most part, the only exception was the spider which of course they set a trap but instead of waiting at the entrance to get them they let Richard and Nicci go inside so that she could be healed from the poison and not be vulnerable to their attack. Darken Rahl is a frightening villain because he is smart and uses his wits very well, the sisters of the dark are not frightening at all but have become the storm troopers of the show.
I understand the need and possible reasons for having this in the show just would have liked it better if they had portrayed the sisters to be the real threat they were from the books...at least to setup the rest of their appearances...

Don't forget that they do in fact use magic when throwing their Dacras for when they hit, it can only be removed by the sister or else the victim dies. Remember the episode when Richard was stuck in the temple with the Sisters of the light, they always kept heir hands in a magical pose as if to finish the attack off or remove the Dacra, which comes from their Han. If they were to become a baneling, they would loose their han and just be decent fighters.

I love the sisters of both the light and the dark, I am glad there are so many of them to spare (well, not of the light anymore, ). I think they add a nice flavor to the second Season apart from the constant Dharans in the first Season. Plus, I love that they got Jolene Blalock to play a Sister of the Dark. I am a bit sad we probably won't ever see her again from what happened to her.

I'd like to see more monsters and mystical creatures, but that costs more money (special effects, make-up, costumes), so understanding that the show must survive financially, I enjoy whatever they give me.

I could forgive all the stuff about their battle tactics and their numbers if the SotD just weren't so silly. The acting is terrible. None of them has had the carriage to be a SotD except Jolene Blalock. At first I didn't like her, because she was a little over the top sometimes and probably did not live up my expectations from the book, but at least she had presence. At least you knew she was a force to be reckoned with. The second Nicci was not able to portray that at all, which was disappointing, but little did I know, it was all down hill even from that low point.

The Prelate is a better bad guy than the SotD imo, but then again, we don't need a Prelate anymore, none of the SotL have any powers anymore, they gave all their powers to the "Creator", right? Grrr...

I mentioned this on another thread yesterday - I consider these silly sisters to be an epic fail. How can that be when the rest of the show and casting is so good?

They should just say: "Yeah, some powerful magic happened, Jolene's back!" I'd be happy.

I would assume Verna was not at the palace to give her powers so at least there is one and we also know that there are sisters of light at Thandor (no idea how to spell that). I totally agree that the prelate made a much better bad guy. I don't think there was enough focus on the sisters of dark to make them more threatening in the show.
