Yo, grieving Seekerfans. If I could have your attention, please.
Talk about bad timing. I'm as taken aback by the EW article as everyone. I don't have any official information on whether the show is cancelled. I would guess that a couple of people who are closer to the show have already sort of confirmed that something happened.
Nonetheless, let me share some news with you.
Late last week I was contacted by Slam Internet, Inc. (Sander Moses Productions) and asked to embed a NEW LOTS widget on Xenite.Org. I did not receive the code until this morning but it's on the site now (www.xenite.org/tv/legend-of-the-seeker). You may recall we interviewed Craig Horner a couple of months ago.
So the good folks at Slam/Sander Moses asked me to get the word out today as quickly as possible. I suppose they knew this cancellation story would come out. I'm only guessing.
Still, I did my dutiful fannish thing -- I put the code up, announced it on blogs and Twitter ... and couldn't get anyone to notice.
I have no idea of why they want a promotional widget on fan sites this late in the game but it includes videos, biographical information, etc.
You can embed the widget on your own sites. Just grab the code from Xenite.
Will it help in any way? I have no idea. I suppose someone on the other side of the technology is hoping to crunch some numbers.
Xenite.Org has helped companies make consumer-friendly business decisions in the past but, frankly, when it comes to entertainment no one Website can do it alone.
Maybe they have something up their sleeves. I don't know. But I think that if you want to do something more than just sign online petitions (do that) and hammer SyFy on Twitter (do that) and ask ABC to keep it alive (do that), well, maybe we can show them all there are some numbers worth paying attention to.
I'm not asking for links to Xenite.Org -- we get plenty of links. I'm trying to get the word out about a NEW promotional campaign for Legend of the Seeker.
