New Online LOTS promotion launched TODAY (April 26)

Yo, grieving Seekerfans. If I could have your attention, please.

Talk about bad timing. I'm as taken aback by the EW article as everyone. I don't have any official information on whether the show is cancelled. I would guess that a couple of people who are closer to the show have already sort of confirmed that something happened.

Nonetheless, let me share some news with you.

Late last week I was contacted by Slam Internet, Inc. (Sander Moses Productions) and asked to embed a NEW LOTS widget on Xenite.Org. I did not receive the code until this morning but it's on the site now (www.xenite.org/tv/legend-of-the-seeker). You may recall we interviewed Craig Horner a couple of months ago.

So the good folks at Slam/Sander Moses asked me to get the word out today as quickly as possible. I suppose they knew this cancellation story would come out. I'm only guessing.

Still, I did my dutiful fannish thing -- I put the code up, announced it on blogs and Twitter ... and couldn't get anyone to notice.

I have no idea of why they want a promotional widget on fan sites this late in the game but it includes videos, biographical information, etc.

You can embed the widget on your own sites. Just grab the code from Xenite.

Will it help in any way? I have no idea. I suppose someone on the other side of the technology is hoping to crunch some numbers.

Xenite.Org has helped companies make consumer-friendly business decisions in the past but, frankly, when it comes to entertainment no one Website can do it alone.

Maybe they have something up their sleeves. I don't know. But I think that if you want to do something more than just sign online petitions (do that) and hammer SyFy on Twitter (do that) and ask ABC to keep it alive (do that), well, maybe we can show them all there are some numbers worth paying attention to.

I'm not asking for links to Xenite.Org -- we get plenty of links. I'm trying to get the word out about a NEW promotional campaign for Legend of the Seeker.

It's a Flash object. The videos and stuff are being served on their end. They have to be monitoring how many views there are. I'm only guessing based on my knowledge of how Webserver technology works.

They aren't sharing their strategy with me. They just asked for my help. I wish I could tell you more but I don't know more.

BTW -- Thanks to everyone for the retweets. Please keep them coming.

Glad to do fellow fans a favor.

I just got this message from my contact: "As far as I've heard, it's not true".

Look, there are a LOT of people involved with this show. It will take some time for it all to get sorted out. But I'm not ready to give up hope yet.

I have no way of knowing what the truth is. But it won't hurt if fans let everyone know we want this show to continue.

Friends, I have walked this path before with other shows. Sometimes the fans win, sometimes they don't. Just keep tweeting good thoughts and let your friends know about this announcement.

If I hear anything else, I'll share it here. I promise.

I am sure that whoever hosts the video can track the hits. The video is NOT hosted on Xenite. We're just framing a remote feed.

I just received a request from Slam. Any of you who copy that code and put it on your sites, PLEASE TWEET ABOUT IT. They want to know who is picking up the code.

I gave them a couple Twitter hash tags to follow (#lots and #legendoftheseeker). If you know of other hash tags they should look at, please post them here. I think someone from the company will be checking this thread.

Any other online fan bases you can think of like at Facebook or MySpace, please post a link here so they can see how the fans are organizing.

Yes, there are a lot of people involved in making a show. I could see where one department or one group of people are told one thing, other groups are told something else, etc. Who knows? For example, maybe the wardrobe dept. was told not to order a costume because it looked like the show was canceled, while the producers are talking with a network and only a few people know about that. Lots of things going on we don't know about--so it could be very possible that the Ausiello guy was given the wrong info.

Like Dennee said "it ain't over till the fat lady sings--our seeker needs us".
