Watch With Kristin...Save One Show Campaign

As many of you know Kristin from the 'Watch With Kristin' blog over at EOnline.com usually does a "Save One Show" campaign every year. She does it based on her readers comments. It looks like she might also be doing a "Save One Cable Show" campaign as well.

Here is an excerpt from her recent "Save One Show" blog post...

Please note: As always, this Save One Show only includes network series at this time, as it is anchored with the Network Upfronts mid-May. However, we are considering a cable Save One Show as well, so sit tight if you are a fan of, say, Legend of the Seeker.

I love the fact that she mentioned Legend of the Seeker on the post. I guess she is already aware that the show has a lot of fans that want the show to be renewed.

It's ironic that a show as good as Legend of the seeker needs saving. I am starting to agree with Nicci when she told Richard in Bound that the whole world is wrong.

It is sad but it's the way things are today. Shows of great quality have to fight to stay alive while the other crap that's on continues to air with no end in sight....doesn't make any sense.

It's called the intellectual decline of humanity!

People are more concerned with finding out out how many women Tiger Woods banged rather than watch quality storytelling.

Isn't that the truth.........don't get it. I want something I can sink my teeth into, make my brain work while watching TV. This other crap is plain mind numbing.......I have enough reality in my life I don't need watch it on television.

It’s time for the annual “Save One Show” campaign at E!Online where:

The winning series will get a big push from E! Online, E! News and Daily 10, and we will take your message straight to the network execs who are deciding that show’s fate to make sure your voice is heard.

Normally this campaign wouldn’t include LotS in the shows list but:

As always, this Save One Show only includes network series at this time, as it is anchored with the Network Upfronts mid-May. However, we are considering a cable Save One Show as well, so sit tight if you are a fan of, say, Legend of the Seeker.

What you have to do in order to warm up Kristin in running a cable “Save One Show” campaign is tweet @kristinalert saying that you want to save LotS and put the #SOS hashtag somewhere in your tweet.
NOTE: This hashtag indicates “Save One Show” and NOT “Save Our Seeker” so make sure you use it as it is with no alterations

The US TV networks primary goal is to make a profit. Just like every other business. The reality is that most people here in the US are very passive TV viewers. They don't become "engaged" in a show or TV series. They watch what's on and if a certain show disappears they shrug their shoulders and move on to the next entertaining show.

We (by that I mean the passionate fans of a genre, aka scifi/fantasy, show) have to realize that there just aren't enough of us to truly make a difference against the current US ratings system.

I'm not saying I like it or that I agree with it. Just that I know how it works so when a situation like this comes up I'm not surprised. Unfortunately, it's happened before and it will happen again.

Well said, plus I also think the fact that LOTS comes on during weekend and is based in a fantasy world doesn't help. I still think the idea that fantasy/scifi shows are not necessarily fairy tales and aren't meant for kids is not grasped by a lot of people (some of them I know personally).

Good points Kevin. Now I know why I like fantasy shows so much, it just makes you escape the reality..at least as long as they are on air.

The cool thing is you can comment on it as many times as you want by making up random user names.

Getting E! to highlight Legend of the Seeker would be fantastic.
