More romance please

So I've decided to start a thread for those of us romance-seekers as I know there's got to be a bunch of us out there tht watch the show not only for the storylines, but also for the romance...well, what little romance scenes there are anyways.

I feel there needs to be some more touchy-touchy moments with R & K. Most of the time they kiss it's only when they're reuniting with each other. What about some loving during the show? Why not cuddle while by the fire pit? And yes, I understand the physical boundaries Kahlan needs to put up, but still. She can cuddle with him every now and then just to give us romancers the fix we need!

Any why not a kiss here and there? He won't be confessed just with some making out. I mean come on!

And before you come in here complaining there's too much romance in the show...please...there can never be too much romance!

I'd love more romance but Bridget commented in a recent interview that she and Craig had often pushed for the producers to let them cuddle up together by the fire now and then, or sleep close together, but the powers that be wouldn't let them. It is a pity.

After all they have been expressing their feelings for each other much more in the last clutch of episodes, so maybe they will eventually be allowed to be a bit more romantic together. It is Richard and Kahlan's romance that glues the show together for me.

Likewise. Yes, and someone posted something earlier to me about how it's a syndicated show and so forth. I'm just a helpless romantic and thrive off of the little scenes here and there...it would just be nice to see a little more of them. Here's to hoping as the series progresses it'll turn in that direction a little more. I loved the books for the romance and the show

I had mentioned in an earlier post about the reasons why I think the writers don't allow Bridget and Craig to cuddle too much. Of course I would love more of that, the relation-ship of Richard and Kahlan is what makes the books and the show epic in my mind. They have brought them closer in season 2 so at least they are heading in the right direction.

I would like to see more cuddling and stuff too. But if you compare LOTS to other shows, we really are pretty blessed. I watched Farscape and was thrilled when the main couple made eye contact, let alone when John grabbed Aeryn's elbow. Here, they kiss about every third episode or they hold hands briefly. Their love is known far and wide, which is kind of funny, actually. They have no privacy. So in a sense, we're really fortunate.

And from a writing point of view I understand the need to keep the tension strong. Once R&K consummate their relationship and it's not some temporary fix, there's a big danger viewers will feel like their story is over and stop watching. So TPTB will want to keep the tension alive as long as possible.

But in the meantime, I wouldn't mind a little more hand holding!

I haven't read the books so I can't comment on that... but I have watched all episodes and while I may be a closeted hopeless romantic soul, I don't need an overabundance because then I will not like what I watch anymore.

Personal 2 cents... I don't watch for romance, I watch for the adventure, the quest, the characters and their interactions with each other and others around them (while that also means what happens between Richard and Kahlan, or doesn't happen, what is there now is progressing just nicely and in an acceptable amount too).

But that's just me... *shrug*

I agree that there needs to be more romantic moments between Richard and Kahlan. I don't see what it would hurt to have a few moments around the fire and whatnot. It would be nice to see. The relationship between Richard and Kahlan is a huge part of the show and an even bigger part of the books. I don't see why they can't hold hands while they are walking and traveling. There were several times last season where there were nighttime campfire scenes and Richard and Kahlan were talking alone. I don't know why they can't do something like that now. We could at least see them talking about having a future together or what it would be like if they could be together. We have had some of that this season, but I think the writers could fit in a few more moments for those of us who are romance fans.

You know, a well written romance doesn't have to kill a show. It only took Alias a little more than 1 season to get Sydney and Vaughn together, and the show ran for 5 seasons. The romance doesn't have to kill a show. It certainly didn't kill Alias.

I agree with that, I think it's more a fear people have and probably the writers too since they are trying hard to bring Richard & Kahlan closer yet they don't want them to be together. Richard and Kahlan were able to be together in the books early on and there is a lot of story after that, it only brought them closer.

Thank you! I absolutely agree. There was those special moments in the first season which I miss! I know there has been more kissing, etc.. but still. Even just sitting and flirting! A little something, something to progress the relationship

And they got together pretty early in the books, so why not in the show!? WHY?! lol...ok, I nede to calm down..just a tv show, lol.

I was a fan of that show and it worked.

And to echo Crystal's comments, on Farscape it was an on going angst between John and Aeryn. A complicated love story because of many issues but we didn't get nearly enough of the "romantic" moments that we have already seen between Richard and Kahlan. I am hoping that the writers have more to come with these two and it's just been a slow build. I love all aspects of the show, the action, drama etc...but the hopeless romantic in me also needs to have that love relationship between two strong characters. It's the icing on the cake for me..............

I agree though that they are never alone now. I think in the first season there were more Richard/Kahlan by the fire talking moments because Zedd would go off in his own. I don't think there has been a time yet this season where Richad and Kahlan went off on their own. Usually if they split Richard goes one way and Kahlan the other way with one of the other two.

I guess in Confessor Richard and Kahlan went off together, but they had that guy with the tattoo on his hand with them.

ahhhh this is the thread of my taste! TOTALLY agree they need more little affectionate moments, hold hands, flirt, spoon, stuff like that. In the books they are welded together for life since book ONE, I absolutely do not see any reason why the show writers have the illusion it would spoil it somehow, it just can't. The R&K romance is what made me stick to the books...

Would be true to SoT canon, but does it have to be exactly the same in the TV show, not so sure. The balance is fine as it stands.
