Hi guys,
I listened to your pod cast this morning. Great idea to do it to update everyone and very reasoned information. I think we should all continue to do our best to convine ABC/Disney to renew LotS. Letters do work much better than e-mail as they can just set up an automatic response to Seeker based enquiries.
I have already sent letters but I have spoken to a few of my friends who all love the show, but maybe wouldn't actually pick up a pen and write to the makers. They are all happy for me to type up letter that they can sign and post off. If everyone did this it would help as the more letters ABC/Disney receive the better.
We should of course continue watching the show, buying the DVD sets if we haven't yet go it and also download episodes from I tunes. I'm also putting in the letters a request for a Season 2 DVD release as so may folks outside the USA watch the show I'm sure that a region 2 DVD release of season 1 would sell even better than the Region 1 version. Also I might mention that it is a pity folks outside the US can't pay to download the episodes from I Tunes.
When Mike Sussman first asked everyone to write to ABC/Disney he did say only a short time later that if Tribune didn't pick up the show Season 3 wouldn't go ahead. Tribune didn't pick up the show, claiming that the ratings were not good enough. However ratings are up on last year despite the riduculous time slots LotS has been give. Frankly I think ratings are a convenient excuse and the reason is far more complex and has a lot to with money and the fact that Tribune are reported to be in deep financial trouble.
Unsurprisingly when Tribune's response became common knowledge everyone panicked, thinking that was the end for LotS. Yet only a short time later Mike Sussman made it clear all was not lost. His last communication emphatically said that the fans were not to panic and confirmed that the show hadn't been cancelled, adding that plans were ongoing for season 3. He is exective producer of the show and I'm certain he wouldn't just have said that without just cause. He must know what is going on behind the scenes and no doubt stuff is happening that he can't talk about as yet, so I am presuming there is a definite avenue of hope.
I have at last found an address for the UK SiFi channel, which also pertains to anyone watching the European SciFi channel. I plan to write to them as well. Season 2 is doing great on SciFI here and is well advertised on the channel and has a good time slot. NBC own both the European SciFi channel and the US one, so if it is doing well outside the US on SciFi, that might make US SciFi think of picking it up, if ABC/ Disney are/ or do start looking for a new US distributors.
