    Representing at Dragon*Con

Hey everyone. I was talk ing with Jenn tonight about Dragon*Con (as the days slowly get closer to our favorite weekend of the year.) As you all know, she is working on a Mord-Sith outfit for the weekend. We started discussing whether a jaunt in the parade might be in order. If it happens, I will either try a Richard outfit, or a random person the was trained by our resident Mord-Sith.

In order for this to happen, we are going to need more people to help us represent the Seeker Cast, and Legend of the Seeker. Is anyone else interested in dressing up and walking for a mile downtown Atlanta with us and a few thousand of some friends you haven't met yet?

I usually walk with the Dr Who group. But let me see if what I can do.

We should hold a meet up so we can at least meet other fans of LOTS.

I am still trying to work out if I can afford a trip to Atlanta. I am hoping hoping (praying) that I'll be able to go - I've never gone to a Con and always wanted to go.

Seeing a lot of people who are unable to make it. As if being on the other side of the ocean is REALLY a good reason

How about those of you in the states? We have to have SOME listeners who are able to join us I would love to get a meetup going. We will hopefully have a panel or 2 to enjoy on our beloved seeker, though yet to be determined. If our friends at ABC/Disney will be nice enough to send some celebs again this year, the chances are even better It was great to see Craig Parker last year, and learn that he is as big a geek as the rest of us

At the present point in time, no LotS cast members are scheduled to appear. But it's early! I'm hopefull we may see something a little closer to con.

I agree with the meet up. I have my membership already and the hotel room. I am soooo there. We all should get together and get some dinner and/or drinks one night.

We will definitely plan a meet-up for some time during the con.

I've already got a tentative time for one panel (non Seeker) that I'll be on so the schedule is just now starting to come together for the different programming track directors.

We'll be discussing this on the podcast.

I should be able to make it for a day or two (coming from CA). The long weekend makes it a lot easier. I'll make travel plans as soon as I know when the meetings and panels are going be.

The full con schedule won't be published until about 10 days before the con.

Dragon*Con is essentially 35+ different conventions all happening together. That probably sounds a little odd but each programming track runs their own schedule and the con organizes all of the tracks and the larger scale events. You can see a list of the different tracks listed here...

    http://dragoncon.org/fan_tracks.php

Also keep in mind that Dragon*Con is a very large convention (35,000+ attendees). Hotel rooms at the four official hotels sold out last fall. Getting hotel space can be a bit of a challenge if you wait too long. You also need to keep in mind that the lines to pick-up your badge/membership can be quite lengthy especially if you only get single day (Sat only or Sun only) badges. I've heard of folks waiting 2-3 hours in line.

I'm not trying to scare anyone away. Just want folks to realize the scope of things.

Dragon*Con is an amazing experience. You get the chance to hang out with thousands of other BIG genre fans and talk about the TV shows, movies and books that many of us love.

Here's a link to the 'Pocket Guide' from 2009 which is what was handed out to all attendees. It contains the schedule with detailed descriptions of the panels, events and guests. This is what is made available about 10 days before the con. It's a PDF file that's over 130 pages long.

    http://www.box.net/shared/rq65brp8br

For anyone who's considering attending it's best to look around the official website to learn more...

    http://www.dragoncon.org

As regular attendees for the past several years Kurt, Jenn and I are also very glad to answer any questions too.

    Any Seeker panels?
Legend of the Seeker is covered by the American Scifi Media track. Last year we had one Seeker panel which was the one where Jenn and I were on the panel with Craig Parker. As far as this year I'm not sure yet what the AMSF track is planning to do. I've been in touch with the track director and I believe she's planning to do at least one Seeker panel but that's not confirmed as of yet.
