Too much Cara and too little Richard and Kahlan

Is anyone else worried that there is too much focus on Cara this season? Richard's the point of view character, and I feel like he hasn't gotten much attention at all this season. And I really miss how he and Kahlan would be paired up a lot last season to solve problems. Think of all the eps where it was mostly just the two of them. Have we had any like that at all this season?

I'm worried that the season is more than half over and it doesn't have some of the magic I liked from the first season. Anyone else notice this too?

I think it might be because Kahlan is too static a character. Her nature is set, while Cara is changing. That makes her more exciting to me. I love Cara anyway, and I think the Kahlan/Richard lovey dovey stuff gets boring. I want them to focus on Richard learning his magic more.

    *gasp!*

There is NO such thing as too much Cara. She is huge part of the story. The reason they focused on her is because she wasn't in season 1. They needed to build her character this season, just like they built Richard and Kahlan as individual persons and as two people who love each other in season 1.

I don't think Cara was focused more this season than the others. Here's a breakdown of the episodes so far and their focus.

    1. Marked - not character-centric. Focus is more on the problem they've created
    2. Baneling - not character-centric
    3. Broken - Cara. And one of the best episode this season
    4. Touched - Kahlan. Another great episode
    5. Wizard - Zedd
    6. Fury - Richard
    7. Resurrection - The one thing that stands out to me in this episode (character-wise) is Cara and Kahlan's growing respect for each other.
    8. Light - This episode isn't really character-centric, but there are a lot of things that stood out. One is Richard and Kahlan's kiss, with the declaration of love. I think that showed a lot of viewers who were having some doubts or were getting frustrated about the lack of Richard/Kahlan moments that the writers haven't forgotten about them. The second thing that stood out for me was Cara and Kahlan's developing friendship. Before, they respected each other, but that didn't necessarily mean they want to hang out. In this episode, you can see both of them realizing that the other isn't so bad to hang out with after all.
    9. Dark - Character-wise, we see book!Richard in action. We also see Cara and Kahlan being, er, "girlfriends-y". This episode also showed Cara's "girly" side when she was talking about chipmunks with Leo.
    10. Perdition - Richard, Richard and Kahlan's reunion, Cara's loss
    11. Torn - Kahlan
    12. Hunger - Cara. For me, this was a great character episode. Tabrett's portrayal of Cara's struggle to do good and to follow Richard and Kahlan's examples was amazing.

So you see, while Cara is one of the focus this season, she still isn't the main focus. You probably just felt that way because you wanted more Richard and Kahlan. But you have to realize that the story isn't just about them or their relationship. Yes, their love for each other is an important theme in the story, but it isn't the only thing in it. What makes this story amazing is their love story AND the settings and situations that test it. If you take away the setting, situations and other characters and only focus on the two of them, Legend of the Seeker is going to be a really boring series.

I would like to see more Richard and Kahlan, but I think they've done a great job keeping my interest. I think it's starting to look good for a third season or else they would have to speed up things with Richard and Kahlan already. I actually wasn't too thrilled with Cara being added as a regular to start this season, but she's been a good addition. I would like to see more of Zedd while we are at it, some episodes it seems the Wizard does almost nothing.

Yeah, there really hasn't been too much Cara at all. She was the main focus of only two episodes so far this season, those being "Broken" and "Hunger."

Besides that, it's quite necessary to have variation in episodes. Not every episode can revolve around Richard- it would get stale pretty fast.

Disagree about the second season lacking the "magic" of the first season as well. Season two has been a large step up in terms of writing and overall quality, in my opinion. Season one was good obviously, which is why I'm still on time to watch every episode thus far in season two, but the thing is with S1, is that the budget was lower, the acting a bit worse (didn't start improving until later in S1 when the real-life actors started getting the right feel for the characters), and the production values as a whole are not as good as they've become in S2.

Like I said, I absolutely love LotS, and thought S1 was a fantastic start to a new series, but S2 has been an improvement in every aspect.

Cara has added another dimension to the chemistry on this show. I like her, I like her alot. As much as I am a Richard/Kahlan shipper...I sometimes think it would be very cool to see Richard and Cara together...sorry hope I didn't freak anyone out by saying this. A shipper at heart I do love some romance in the show that I am watching. And because I have not read the books I really don't know what is in store for Richard Kahlan (well maybe a little). LOL!

I also think it has been a fairly good balance as well and the Cara character development has been great.

But, I do somewhat feel that it is time for some more Richard-specific focus and development. I am ready for another episode like "Fury", which is still one of my favorites.

Well im a biiig Richard&Kahlan shipper but i liked seeing a Cara centric eppy, i think Tab's acting was ace, and in the last one (i got to say lol) she was more like a background decoration than one of the main chars . So im glad to see her show "what shes got".
Besides not having a lot of Richard and Kahlan one week only makes me happier when i get to see more of them the next one

I disagree that Kahlan is too static of a character to explore other things with. Torn was a prime example of Kahlan the Confessor, and Kahlan the Lover. She is fearless as a warrior, and fair as a judge. People look up to her mostly out of fear more than anything else. Cara is no doubt a main character in this mix; however she must undergo more changes than Kahlan to be accepted by others. Once this season comes to a close, she will no doubt be very close to R&K(as she was in the books), and will have clearly changed from a Mord Sith to a loyal follower of the Seeker. Hopefully, Kahlan and the rest of the group will get their little background stories to shed the layers of their personalities, too. True, the love story between R&K can get a bit over used, but like in the books, they were always torn apart by one thing or another. That constant struggle to stay together introduced all the other memorable characters, and Richard using his powers to overcome his separation from Kahlan, and her strong will to keep him on his quest, despite the separations, is the glue to the story.

They could make a spin-off show all about Cara's magnificent facial expressions. Especially her "does not compute" face!

I don't like her, and I know they were building her 'role' but its Richard and Kahlan's story. I would rather see MUCH MORE of Zedd! Wizards always have a very interesting life. Read some of the French stories about Merlin,...

It is Richard and Kahlan's story I agree. Secondary characters are important as well. I think Cara has benefited greatly by being with Richard, Kahlan and Zedd. I would definitely like to learn more about her. She's changing as she spends more time with them. It was evident in Perdition when she told Leo (although too late) that she did care about him. Do you think her former self would have? Nope...she would have been with him but only for the physical aspect, never relenting to an emotional attachment.
