Great comment on Light from Eve - Richard was presented as the new Lord Rahl to all those D'haran soldiers in Light, his claim 'rubber stamped' by Denna's presence - they all (or a good number) must think he IS the Lord Rahl and are still following him. Wonderful spotting, never even crossed my mind.

They found a copy of the Book of Counted Shadows in a library in the episode "Sanctuary" in Season 1. That's how Richard found out how to defeat Darken Rahl.

    Really great podcast episode guys!

I really enjoyed your discussion of Dark and your comments very much mirrored how I felt about the episode. Great catch on Richard being likely already widely recognized as Lord Rahl. Also, Jenn, great pointing out the visual palette of the Old World. I am a long-time book fan and I thought this was episode was largely excellent as you did.

    Hi.
Always enjoy the podcasts and the PC duo
re Eve/JohnnyRingo RIchard/Grix was intro'd as Lord Rahl...but the commander saw him die....not sure what they'll do from there??
Hicho -- sorry I'm a nonbookie -- but really like Sister Verna, great on screen chemistry with Richard and her

Dark -- Sister Nicci -- finally our Richard preveiled before being eaten alive--he figured her out--I think he's doing a temporary fix to the headaches and getting back to those he loves to solve the Tears of Stone problem without doing the Rata'han. 10 to 1 is a killer for any of us!!
Leo --- would have liked a different name---but so far they have presented him as strong, working class background, sensitive to Cara, sense of humor, seems to have no problem with "rage" of the sword??? But handpicked by Shota?? Again self-interest on her part. So what is her angle ? Question: how will Leo and Richard work together?? Question: Did Zedd have no other sources. Of course Leo is only the Seeker not Lord Rahl.
Prophecy-- hmmm ominous one for Kahlan and I'm sure if Richard had seen it he would be really upset, the interpretation of prophecy ie Shota (always a personal zinger on her wand)
Richard feels he is a man of his own destiny and has changed destiny...so interpreting giving it to the Keeper instead of as Sister of the Dark??? to get what Richard wants??? he refused to cut a deal with DK....Richard goes to the nth degree to help those he loves ..so excited to see what comes next

    Thanks..enjoyed the chat...deras

    Profit with no profit

I am so glad you guys started the podcast. Now I get double coverage of LotS. Tuning into Scifi TV and the Seeker Cast. Great job guys! Now you need to get Beatnik Turtle to write you a theme song.

Anyway, I am a bookie and I have read the whole series. I read SoT so long ago so I am not that nitpicky….but that said here are some things to consider:

Can’t the show afford to hire two more actors? The source of the prophesies is supposed to be a PROFIT. Someone how dreams the prophesies and writes them down and analyses what they mean…..can you say Nathan Rahl please. No they are written down by a blast of magic on a wall that is ready to receive them?? What ever!

Richard is supposed to be going to a place to learn to be a wizard. Couldn’t they include an other man who is learning there as well? There is someone in the books, I forgot his name.

They bring out sorcerer’s sand and show us a grace. This is a basic grace that all powerful magic stems from. Did they teach Richard how to use the sand to perform any other magic? Doesn’t matter, Richard gave up his magic.

Last one: If you lose your Han you lose your life. Richard should be dead. Your Han is part of your spirt…you die if you lose it.

I love the show guys. Keep it up.

Hoping for Season 3…..I think I feel a dream walker in my head….Jagang is that you?

Hey Devo, im not a bookie yet but will be reading them as of tomorrow when i go buy them. But I Find it a little bit stupid that Richard would give up his Magic powers due to just wanting an escape, so do you think they will say that he lended the Sister of the Dark Nicci his powers and never actually lost them?

Also wouldn't you think that if you were a grandson of Zedd a Wizard of the First Order (Which seems to be the most powerfullest Wizard in Midlands) that you would want to know and learn magic as well as knowing you have a powerful bloodline of Rahl (sorcery). I personally would want to learn this magic and be able to use it, which he is said to know be the most powerfullest wizard in the Old and New world. Just lacks wisdom =)

Also Great Great Podcast guys, i found by just randomly search for LoTS in Itunes, =)

Hey all - great replies! Thanks for stopping by to share your thoughts.

    Devolark -

Agreed - I'd love to see Nathan. Or hell, some other wizards being trained would be nice!

Yes, I forgot, I admit it. It WAS convenient though to be able to pull out the book right at that moment. As for the comments towards no "background check" on Leo, I think that is what the book was for. Only a "True Seeker" can read from the book, and Leo did (I keep expecting him to "orb" away or something... sorry, Charmed reference) I guess that was all that is needed to make sure.

Finally, though the whole 5 minute scene between Leo and Cara was a bit rushed for her to crush on him, but the chipmunk conversation was a nice throw back to the books, and made me smile. Can you picture Richard training mord sith to feed a chipmunk from the hand? I think that would be diffuicult to do without cgi, but they alluded to it beautifully

How do we know Leo could actually read the Book of Counted Shadows? Maybe Shota, who seem to know everything, told him what words to say????

I would reckon that Shota did not know that. The book is protected by magic. Even Zedd can't read it.

I know I am nit picking here, Kurt but if Zedd and Kahlan hadn't known what it said, how would they have known if Richard was reading it accurately in episode one of the series?

I was thinking of Shota's ability to be able to look into water and see visions of what was happening elsewhere. She could have watched when Richard first encountered the book. Although, I'm not sure if she can hear as well as see what is going on in her visions.

Also she told Zedd about the prophesy that Richard would fail in his quest, thus enabling him not to have to go the Wizard's Keep in the first episode of season 2. So she does seem to know a lot of things, and is incredibly powerful - that is why Zedd is so cautious in his dealings with her.

    Just a thought.

I grant you, her powers are something to be reckoned with. There is a reason few dare to go into her "kingdom" in the books. Even Zedd avoids it if at all possible. Now it may be that I am being too tainted by the books. It was handled completely different there, as you had to have wizard talent to even remember the words read or spoken.

Something that came to me earlier that could go along with your idea though, deanna, is this. If Leo's mom was convinced that he would be seeker, and shota was convinced of the same.... could they not be one and the same person? Since this is nowhere in the park of something that was in the books, it is all up in the air... and I am excited to be able to theorize about things once again.

I am not totally convinced in this idea, but it does gain merit the more I think about it...

That is an interesting thought, Kurt. It never struck me, but you could be right. I tried not to think of the books in this instance because they have gone along such a different route with the Book of Counted Shadows. To expand on your theory, they introduce Samuel briefly (well it was a guy with his name) when we first encountered Shota. So having her tied up in some way with another Seeker would make sense.

I just think there is something not quite right about Leo - no idea why. Maybe I am just seeing things that aren't there. When I put my writer's hat on I do tend to dig too deeply at times. Hopefully we may learn more when the episode airs this weekend?

Deanna - I am with you on the not-quite-ready-to-trust-Leo boat. I just don't know, but there is something that makes me ridiculously suspicious of him.
