so with the way things ended in LoN, does anyone think that Terry is going to be writing a sequel or sequels? I thought the book was good and the way he ended it definately leaves an opening for more books. But of course that's just my thoughts

I would hope so... it just ended oddly. I didn't enjoy it nearly as much as I enjoyed the Sword of Truth Series, but I think it has potential. Hope he continues with it for sure. He definitely needs to explain a few things as far as I'm concerned (Jax AMNELL and Alex RAHL).
Richard: "If you don't tell me where the Mother Confessor is, you are going to die."
Kahlan: "You are about to slit her throat, Richard."

Sequel would be nice.
A sequel would be so cool, maybe with alex finding a way to jax's world!
Nothing is ever easy
A sequel would be good. I just hope he doesn't mirror the SoT books too much. I'm sure it's very tempting for him to essentially turn this next series into an extension of the SoT series, which now that I think about it, wouldn't be too bad. Only reason I read the book was to see if it gave any clues as to what happened to Richard and Kahlan.
Unfortunately, Terry has made it clear the The Law of Nines is a stand-alone novel. He's got 2 more books coming out in the next 2 years but they have nothing to do with SoT or LoN. I think it was just sort of a transition between fantasy/SoT and his new direction in modern thrillers.

Well, that's just disappointing

That is very disappointing! The LotS and LoN were great books! Very inspirational! I just think he left it too wide open to try to close it... like the bad guy died way too easy!

i believe he's coming out with a new book, and by the designs on his website, it does look fantasy related, and pretty awesome lol http://www.terrygoodkind.com/
"You worry about everything else, and leave Six to me. A witch woman is profoundly dangerous." - Shota
I don't see how Amnells continued, but - CONFESSOR SPOILER!!! - when Jennsen and Tom marry, Tom keeps Jennsen's name - Rahl.
Since when Richard and Kahlan married, Kahlan became Kahlan Rahl... Amnells are just impossible. Unless the kids took Mummy's name.
If only Terry read things like this O.o

But I thought he signed a contract to write LoN as a trilogy thing? Well, that's what I heard. Silly rumors.

Actually in SOT we learn that daughter's of Confessor's take the mother's name, the line of Confessors travels through the mother's to the daughters, which is why Kahlan was an Amnell and not Wyborn. Unless Richard and Kahlan had a son, the Rahl bloodline would have died out. Which Jax informed us in LoN, we just don't know if it ended with Richard and Kahlan or not.
I'm guessing they don't have a male child, or if they do he is not a monster, because LoN already tells us that Lord Rahl ushered in a Golden Age.
yes i think the same about the Amnell surname - Richard and Kahlan have dauther/s and they take their mother's surname...
One thing was interesting in LoN when Alex and Jax do to see Alex mom and the two women's talk about long hair... I dont remember that Jensen was interestet in not cuting her hair, but Kahlan was.......

Personally I hope the LON continues at least a couple more books---big, thick books!LON has terrific potential, in my opinion.

Denna, Sixx, Cara, Jennsen, Nicci, Ann, Verna, Shota, Kahlan, Denee
interesting and valid point, would neatly explain it
as for the male son, it's very possible that Shota's prophecy would have already been averted after Kahlan's miscarriage, should she become pregnant again (as she presumably will) the child could be female without invalidating the prophecy

Sister Dulcine: Men have uncontrollable urges.
Verna: So do I, but with the Creator's help I've so far managed not to strangle anyone
The only reason I can think of Jax having the Amnell surname is because, if I remember correctly, Richard mentioned in Stone of Tears that he would take Kahlan's last name instead of her taking the Rahl name. This was when he was dealing with his inner turmoil after learning he was the son of Darken Rahl. He was unhappy, to say the least, about who his father was and was not okay with being a Rahl for a couple books. He was much more inclined to take the Amnell name instead.
However, this is never expanded upon in the books. Goodkind never says, after they're married, who takes which surname. In fact, they keep referring to themselves as Richard "Rahl" and Kahlan "Amnell". Or "the husband of the Mother Confessor" or "the Lord Rahl's wife". So we really have no clue who's surname would have survived. Jax DOES mentioned in LoN, though, that the Rahl name died out quickly after the period of the "golden age" after Richard succeeding in getting rid of the Imperial Order. But it's been about a year since I read LoN, so I don't remember much else.
"Thank you for coming, Vincent. Sorry you have to leave now. Let me show you out." -- Nathan, to Vincent, after he reduced the boy to a pile of ash and swept it out the door.
I would really like to see a sequel to LoN. Before reading it I was rather skeptical when I heard it was a completely new story and even a different genre. After reading it, I will be very disappointed if there never ends up being a sequel. I think it should take place again in the non-magic world. I could see it taking on so many interesting directions.
I would like a sequel of it as well. While it wasn't as good as WFR and FotF. It was still a good book.
Spelling List
1. Kahlan
2. Zedd
3. Cara
4. Nicci
In LON Jax explained it had been thousands of years since there was a Rahl and after Richard and Kahlan they called it the golden age it lasted for over 100 years until trouble finally stirred back up again. So it makes sense that their child would have ruled after them i mean who else could have kept the peace for over 100 years?
Alex Rahl is obviously the one from the prophecy at the end of SOT Nathan said he is not of this world but must save it so in a way he tied the two genres together the omen machine is taking place thousands of years before law of nines. It seems Terry Goodkind is going to fill in the gaps for us a bit so we know just how his world went to hell and why Alex had to save it. Im really hoping to read about Alex and hoping he will go to Jax's world and save it thus saving Richard and Kahlan's world. Im really excited to think about the possibilities Jax is a Rahl and doesnt know it thou she is not a true Rahl. It must be Alex is the new true Rahl the suspense is killing me.
